Defense Feeds – Guardian‑T 8×8 Armored Vehicle takes center stage as Thailand’s defense industry makes a major leap at Defense & Security 2025 in Bangkok.
The Guardian‑T 8×8 Armored Vehicle is a medium-weight direct-fire support platform unveiled by Chaiseri Metal & Rubber Co., designed to combine mobility, modular protection, and modern firepower.
This debut positions the Guardian‑T 8×8 Armored Vehicle as a potential competitor to more expensive Western systems, attracting interest from regional militaries and defense analysts alike.
Derived from Chaiseri’s amphibious 8×8 vehicles currently serving the Royal Thai Navy Marine Corps, the Guardian‑T 8×8 Armored Vehicle shown at the exhibition is a mock-up intended to demonstrate core design concepts and gather feedback from military stakeholders.
Company officials highlighted that the Guardian‑T 8×8 Armored Vehicle features a flexible architecture capable of integrating various weapon systems, sensor suites, and armor modules to meet operational requirements both domestically and internationally.

The Guardian‑T represents a new class of wheeled armored vehicle for Thailand. At a combat weight of approximately 25 metric tons, it can carry six personnel, including the driver, and is powered by a diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission system.
Its permanent 8×8 drive and independent suspension are designed to provide excellent off-road mobility and stability across diverse terrain.
The vehicle reportedly reaches a top speed of 110 km/h with an operational range of 800 km, allowing rapid deployment in both coastal and inland operations.
The concept vehicle is equipped to support a variety of mission profiles, ranging from direct-fire support to reconnaissance or hybrid operations.
Chaiseri’s approach emphasizes modularity, meaning future versions could integrate additional armor, active protection systems, or specialized equipment depending on the user’s needs.
By leveraging its existing amphibious 8×8 chassis, Chaiseri is able to reduce development time while offering a high degree of operational flexibility.

Guardian‑T’s structural design centers on a welded monocoque hull, a single-shell construction that provides blast resistance and structural strength.
The vehicle meets STANAG 4569 Level 2 standards, protecting against 7.62 mm armor-piercing rounds and mine blasts, with the option to scale protection to Level 3.
Future upgrades could include modular armor panels and internal spall liners to further enhance crew survivability.
The combination of independent suspension, permanent 8×8 drive, and durable off-road components ensures high mobility, enabling the vehicle to navigate challenging terrain.
Chaiseri has not yet disclosed detailed specifications for ground clearance or approach angles, but the design borrows heavily from the company’s amphibious 8×8 platform already in service.
These mobility features are intended to provide operational versatility for both domestic defense and potential export markets.
Guardian‑T’s primary armament is a 105 mm self-loading cannon mounted in a remotely operated turret.
The turret can accommodate anti-tank guided missiles and is compatible with modules from French or Israeli suppliers, depending on the end user.
Chaiseri requires that any foreign partner produce or assemble the turret in Thailand and transfer full maintenance knowledge, ensuring local capability for upgrades and operational support.
Beyond its main weapon system, the Guardian‑T is equipped with modern onboard electronics, including a tactical communications suite, GPS with digital compass, night-vision camera for the driver, automatic fire suppression system, and tire-pressure monitoring.
Optional future upgrades under discussion include a laser warning receiver and acoustic gunshot detection to enhance situational awareness in combat environments.
