Defense Feeds – The New Loitering Cruise Missile Family introduced by Edge Group at the 2025 Dubai Airshow marks one of the UAE’s most ambitious strike-weapon programs to date. 

The Fast Responder lineup features stealthy, long-endurance cruise missiles designed to combine loitering capabilities with precision strike performance. 

This new generation of guided weapons underscores the UAE’s rising influence in indigenous advanced defense technology development.

According to company data, the New Loitering Cruise Missile Family includes three main variants weighing 125 kg, 250 kg, and 620 kg. 

These configurations provide operators with flexible mission options tailored to different strike requirements. 

The flagship version, identified as the Fast Responder 200, gained significant attention at the airshow. 

At 620 kg and carrying a 200-kg warhead, it was showcased as the highlight of Edge’s exhibit for its range, accuracy, and survivability across complex combat environments.

Edge officials noted that the New Loitering Cruise Missile Family stems from extensive research into loitering munitions optimized for engaging time-sensitive, mobile, or hard-to-reach targets. 

Each missile uses advanced satellite-based guidance systems capable of operating in GPS-contested areas, ensuring reliable navigation and strike precision even under heavy electronic warfare interference.

Expanding the UAE’s Precision-Strike Ecosystem

The Fast Responder family marks a significant expansion of Edge Group’s missile ecosystem, developed jointly with its missile arm Halcon. 

The UAE has spent the past five years accelerating its domestic missile production capabilities, and the Fast Responder series represents a natural evolution from previous glide and powered munitions toward more autonomous, adaptive, and persistent strike platforms.

The top-end Fast Responder 200 variant is designed for a 270 km range and optimized for both deep-strike missions and strategic deterrence. 

Operating at subsonic speeds of around Mach 0.5, the missile trades outright velocity for endurance and maneuverability, allowing it to loiter for extended periods while maintaining tight control over target engagement timing. 

This loiter-and-strike approach mirrors trends among major defense powers seeking weapons that can remain airborne near targets until the optimal moment to attack.

Although the company has not disclosed the propulsion model, analysts suggest the missile likely uses a turbofan engine produced by Power Tech, another Edge subsidiary. 

This internal sourcing aligns with the UAE’s focus on supply-chain independence and domestic production stability, particularly for high-value defense systems.

The new missile also complements other Edge programs, including the Saber cruise missile, a heavier and faster 1,200-kg platform capable of Mach 0.8 flight, and the Nasef 20, a lightweight guided munition with a 20-kg payload developed by the company’s Advanced Concepts division. 

Together, these systems highlight Edge’s strategy of creating a multi-tiered precision-strike portfolio that covers tactical to strategic requirements.

The debut of the Fast Responder series reflects the UAE’s growing focus on precision warfare, autonomy, and integrated deterrence within its defense strategy. 

By integrating low-observable shaping, long endurance, and secure datalink connectivity, the Fast Responder provides operators with a weapon that can approach high-value targets with minimal radar exposure while remaining under real-time mission control.

Analysts note that the ability to combine the persistence of a loitering munition with the reach of a cruise missile places the UAE among a small group of nations developing next-generation guided weapons. 

The platform is not just designed for domestic needs; it is also structured to appeal to international defense markets seeking affordable yet sophisticated strike capabilities.

With demand for loitering and autonomous munitions growing rapidly worldwide, Edge’s presentation at the 2025 Dubai Airshow underscores its ambition to position the UAE as a top-tier missile producer.
