Abu Dhabi, UAE – Calidus, a leading UAE-based Defense Technology Development and Manufacturing Company, is set to make a significant impact at IDEX 2025 with the unveiling of seven cutting-edge, UAE-made defense products.
The event, which runs from February 17 to 21 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, will showcase the company’s commitment to advancing military technology and reinforcing the UAE’s position as a key player in the global defense industry.
Calidus is introducing a range of advanced defense solutions tailored to modern warfare and strategic defense needs. The company’s latest innovations include:
One of the highlights of Calidus’ presentation at IDEX 2025 is its newly developed 8×8 all-terrain military vehicle. Fully designed and manufactured by Emirati engineers, this vehicle is engineered to endure extreme conditions and represents a milestone in regional defense manufacturing. The vehicle’s advanced design and capabilities position it as a strong competitor in the global market.
Calidus is unveiling the BARQ High Mobility Multiple Rocket Launcher (HIMRL), designed for high-speed maneuverability and multi-caliber rocket capabilities. This system, mounted on a 4×4 truck chassis, is capable of launching rockets of different calibers, including 122 mm, 220 mm, and 300 mm, as well as loitering munitions. The integration of diverse firepower options makes BARQ a formidable asset for military operations.
The MATV004 and MATV001 armored vehicles feature high-level protection, mobility, and compatibility with various military systems. These vehicles are designed to offer superior durability and adaptability in combat environments, further strengthening the UAE’s defense capabilities.
Calidus is also introducing a new reconnaissance vehicle featuring a four-wheel-drive system equipped with modern surveillance technology. Designed for high agility and precision in intelligence-gathering missions, this vehicle will enhance military reconnaissance capabilities.
The 35mm twin-barrel turret system, a close-range air defense system, will be mounted on the WAHASH 8×8 vehicle. This system is engineered to provide rapid-response protection against aerial threats, making it a critical addition to modern defense strategies.
Another major innovation from Calidus is the Lahab 155mm artillery turret. This advanced system is designed to deliver high-impact firepower and is the first of its kind to be developed in the region. The Lahab system is expected to provide enhanced artillery capabilities for various military operations.
The Al Heda missile system will be mounted on the MATV004 vehicle, equipping it with advanced missile-launching capabilities. This system is designed for precision strikes and high operational efficiency, reinforcing Calidus’ commitment to integrating advanced weaponry into its defense platforms.
These groundbreaking innovations highlight Calidus’ manufacturing and development capabilities, solidifying its status as a rising competitor in both regional and global defense markets. The company is also expected to establish key partnerships with leading international firms during IDEX 2025.
The newly developed 8×8 all-terrain military vehicle from Calidus is poised to compete with leading global armored vehicle manufacturers. Unlike many global competitors that rely on international collaborations, the Calidus 8×8 vehicle is fully designed and manufactured in the UAE by Emirati engineers. This makes it the first of its kind to be produced in the region, showcasing the UAE’s growing defense production capabilities.
The new 8×8 vehicle is likely designed for multi-role functions, similar to top-tier global models such as the Patria AMV (Finland), Boxer (Germany/Netherlands), and VBCI (France). Like these models, the Calidus 8×8 vehicle can be adapted for various roles, including Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) and Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), increasing its operational flexibility.
Engineered to withstand extreme conditions, the vehicle demonstrates high adaptability to different terrains, including desert landscapes and urban environments. This capability is comparable to other leading 8×8 vehicles, such as the Stryker (USA) and Piranha V (Switzerland), which emphasize superior mobility in diverse combat scenarios.
While specific protection details have not been disclosed, it is expected that the Calidus 8×8 vehicle will feature high-level armor and blast-resistant technology, similar to its counterparts. Vehicles like the Boxer and Piranha V incorporate advanced modular armor, and Calidus is likely to implement similar protection standards to ensure crew safety.
Calidus has described its 8×8 vehicle as one of the most advanced of its kind, implying the integration of cutting-edge situational awareness, communication, and weapon systems. This could place it on par with global leaders like the Patria AMV XP and the Rheinmetall Lynx, which prioritize high-tech warfare capabilities.
By producing this vehicle locally, Calidus is reducing its dependence on foreign imports and establishing itself as a formidable competitor in the armored vehicle sector. The UAE’s commitment to self-sufficiency in defense technology strengthens Calidus’ strategic advantage, positioning it as a regional leader in military manufacturing.
