Defense Feeds – EDGE Group Debuts WSM-1 Missile and New UAS Systems as the Abu Dhabi-based defense technology company continues to advance in the global defense landscape with an expanded range of precision-guided weapons and uncrewed air platforms.
During the Dubai Airshow, EDGE Group showcased major developments in its missile lineup and drone technologies, reinforcing its ambition to become a leading player in next-generation defense innovation.
This latest expansion highlights EDGE’s strategic push for indigenously developed munitions and advanced aerial systems designed to meet modern combat demands.
The newly unveiled lineup features the WSM-1 precision missile, the multi-role Dark Wing, and the Thunder-ER extended-range guided bomb kit, complemented by a new class of intelligence, surveillance, and strike drones.

Leading Edge’s latest introductions is the WSM-1, a stealth-inspired cruise missile capable of reaching speeds of around Mach 0.7 and striking targets at distances up to 290 kilometers.
The missile, displayed alongside the in-development Jeniah collaborative combat aircraft, features foldable wings for internal carriage and improved low observability.
Equipped with a 220-kilogram high-explosive warhead, the WSM-1 supports in-flight retargeting via secure data links and relies on imaging infrared (IIR) technology for terminal guidance.
The missile supports various attack profiles, enabling sea-skimming for naval strikes, pop-up maneuvers to evade defenses, and steep top-down trajectories against fortified targets.
According to Edge engineers at the event, the design places strong emphasis on reduced radar cross-section and modular subsystems, enabling compatibility with various launch platforms.
The WSM-1 is expected to serve as a versatile asset for both the UAE Armed Forces and potential export clients seeking precision-strike capabilities.

Complementing the new cruise missile, Edge also introduced two additions to its modular weapon series: the Dark Wing and Thunder-ER systems.
The Dark Wing weapon is a compact, air-launched guided munition designed for tactical aircraft and drones, offering flexible mission options from close air support to deep-strike precision targeting.
Meanwhile, the Thunder-ER extends the range of Edge’s existing Thunder family of guided bombs.
By incorporating a folded-wing mechanism, the system enables glide bombing over distances exceeding 80 kilometers while maintaining a circular error probable (CEP) of around 3 meters.
These long-range stand-off attack options provide modern air forces the capability to strike while staying outside hostile air defense envelopes.
Defense analysts note that this diversification of modular munitions reflects Edge’s intent to strengthen its export competitiveness and reduce dependency on foreign technologies in precision strike systems.
Beyond munitions, Edge has unveiled notable new platforms under its uncrewed air system (UAS) division.
The Jernas-M medium-altitude drone, optimized for surveillance and strike roles, marks a significant step in the UAE’s domestic UAV manufacturing.
Built for endurance missions, it can stay airborne for up to 20 hours, carry payloads up to 280 kilograms, and operate within a 200-kilometer range.
Its maximum takeoff weight of 1,200 kilograms and 240 km/h top speed position it as a capable platform for both ISR and precision-strike operations.
In addition to the Jernas-M, EDGE showcased the Strike UAS, a compact tactical drone fitted with electro-optical and infrared sensors along with small precision-guided munitions.
In the counter-drone segment, Edge introduced the Vortex-E, a compact quadcopter-style interceptor designed to neutralize hostile UAVs with minimal collateral damage.
With these unveilings, Edge underlines its growing capacity to deliver comprehensive airpower solutions, from long-range munitions to autonomous strike and defense systems.
Industry observers suggest that Edge’s rapid expansion reflects the UAE’s broader goal to position itself as a hub for advanced defense manufacturing and technology export in the Middle East.
Its focus on self-reliant development, modular weapon integration, and artificial intelligence-driven systems signals a strong move toward modernizing airpower strategies across the region.
